Job Summary

Analyzes and summarizes Utah Cancer Registry data. Prepares reports. Makes recommendations to administrators based on analysis of data. Performs data linkages. Quality control of analyses and linkages.


1.Ensures the accuracy of data, analyzes conflicting data, and verifies/collects missing information.

Conduct quality control measures on incoming and existing data within the cancer registry data management systems.

Test and quality control data management systems.

2.Utilizes computer programs/software to analyze data;

WriteSQLqueries or use other programs or programming languages to create reports and/or extract data from data sets

3.Provides documents/reports to administrators and outside agencies as required.

Respond to requests from the Utah Cancer Registry director and senior staff; fulfill requests from outside researchers, epidemiologists, or other public health professionals as directed.

4.Perform data linkages and quality control the linkage to ensure accuracy.

5.Maintain and update department virtual servers.

6.Handles special projects as needed. Examples include:

Maintain and update program website.

Write instructions for users of program-specific databases.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalency (2 years related work experience may be substituted for 1 year of education). Two years experience in collecting, organizing analyzing, and presenting data; and demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills required.

Preferred applicant will have skills and experience in one or more of the following:

•Data management and query tools for exampleSAS,SQL, or R

•Knowledge of cancer terminology and registry data

•Communicating with team members with diverse skills and expertise

•Knowledge of Microsoft Server and MicrosoftSQLServer administration

•Experience creating and maintaining anSFTPserver
