The Unified Communications facilities coordinator (also known as “Account Executive”) oversees the deployment activities of multiple University Information Technology (UIT) products and services, including voice, data, wireless, and video services for sites on and off campus. This person consults with University entities to prepare recommendations for Unified Communication services and products that meet customer needs within their budgets.

University Information Technology, the central IT service provider for campus, reports to the Chief Information Officer and is responsible for many of the University of Utah’s most critical common IT resources including the campus network; the Campus Information Services (CIS) portal; campus e-mail (UMail), telephone, and online collaboration services; high performance and research computing; information security; teaching and learning technologies; software licensing; and a host of other systems and applications. •Engage with campus customers to fully understand and document their Unified Communication needs and business requirements; and determine whichUITproducts meet those needs within the customer’s budget.
•Interview customers and evaluate telecommunication systems to determine departmental needs. Inform customers of available telecommunication services that would be beneficial to the department and identify transition issues.
•Communicate customer technical requirements toUITgroups and identify theUITresources needed to support projects
•Present recommendations, including cost proposals, to department administration
•Demonstrate strong attention to detail
•Enthusiastic interest in staying abreast of workplace technologies, trends, and business expectations
•Maintain an energetic and proactive attitude
•RepresentUITin new-construction customer planning cycles
•Coordinate installation ofUITproducts and services
•Work with campus departments andUITstaff to identify and mitigate compatibility complications when combining state-of-the-art technology with existing infrastructure and services
•Aid department IT staff with the selection and implementation of physical layer data connections for both inter- and intra-building connections
•Assist in defining service level expectations
•Escalate issues when needed

Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalency required (2 years related work experience may be substituted for 1 year of education). Three years directly related experience. Commitment to provide excellent customer service, planning and analytical skills required. Demonstrated human relations and effective communications skills also required. Technical expertise in related area may be required in some areas.

Experience with bidding, evaluating, and implementing diverse workplace technologies

Understanding of all aspects of communications infrastructure, including data services, operations, desktop client services and collaboration tools
Knowledge of building wiring, local area networks, and fiber optic and data networks
Proven ability to understand how technical decisions relate to business expectations and vice versa
