Red Butte Garden is seeking a part-time Weekend Education Assistant. Join a great team and gain valuable experience planning and teaching weekend programs for children at the Garden. This is a part-time, non-benefitted, year-round position. Work schedule is 15-19 hours per week, with mostly weekend (Friday and Saturday) work required.
Job duties include but are not limited to:
•Planning and teaching: Garden Adventure classes, Sprout House Workshops, and other weekend youth programs
•Preparing Sprout House for classes and other programs, welcoming participants, leading activities with other staff, Sprout House cleanup, and insuring guest satisfaction
•Assisting with daily operations by maintaining supplies, facilities, and equipment
•Assisting the Youth Programs Coordinator and the Youth & Family Programs Manager with other activities and events as needed
This is an entry-level position. Training will be provided. Must demonstrate an interest in learning about child development and guidance; a willingness to take direction from the assigned teacher; willing to obtain a food handlers permit, TB test, Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) background check, first aid training are required. Demonstrated human relation and effective human relations skills are also required.
