Job Summary

At the Natural History Museum of Utah we place a strong emphasis on providing an exceptional experience to every guest who visits the museum or participates in any of our programs. All staff members, at every level and in all departments, are a critical part of providing this level of experience. Candidates selected for employment withNHMUwill receive training and be expected to consistently contribute to creating an exceptional and memorable experience at every opportunity.

We are currently seeking part-time baristas to provide service at our in-house Museum Cafe. Our expectation is that the experience of our Cafe visitors is an extension of their overall museum experience through high quality menu selections and superior customer service that complement theNHMUbrand. Successful candidates will greet customers, prepare and serve food and beverage items, and conduct sales transactions.

Responsibilities

Greet customers, explain menu options, conduct sales transactions. Serve food and drink items to customers. Some simple food and beverage preparation tasks. Some cleanup tasks. The ability to converse with guests in English is an essential function of this position.

Minimum Qualifications

Six months cashiering experience, basic mathematical skills, and demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills required. Word processing and spreadsheet skills may be preferred for certain positions.

Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description.

Preferences

Candidates with some food service/restaurant background preferred. Second language proficiency, particularly in Spanish, is preferred for this position. Successful candidates will have flexible availability, particularly on weekends.
