Job Summary

The person in this position will assist the Director of Athletic Bands in the direction and oversight of the Athletic Bands Program; will coordinate, develop and oversee recruitment events for all areas in the School of Music. This position will include administrative duties.

Responsibilities

FALLSEMESTER

-Administration and teaching assistance ofMUSC4500: Marching Band

—Coordinator will assist Director of Athletic Bands in the direction and oversight of the Athletic Bands program.

—Coordinator will perform administrative duties including, but not limited to, financial processing, bid requests and purchasing. University regulation and procedure training may be necessary.

-Student Recruitment Coordination:

—Coordinator will develop and oversee recruitment events, develop potential students, and maintain timely correspondence with potential students for all areas within the School of Music.

—Coordinator will work closely with all faculty members in identifying potential students and assist in their recruitment. Reports, including history of communication and status of each student, will be maintained and distributed regularly.

SPRINGSEMESTER

-Administration and teaching assistance ofMUSC4455: Pep Band

—Coordinator will conduct and assist with small pep bands for both internal & external commitments.

-Student Recruitment Coordination:

—Coordinator will oversee scholarship auditions, including working with studio faculty in scheduling and follow-up.

—Coordinator will work with the School of Music office in scholarship processing and database management; this information will be included in regular reports to appropriate faculty.

—Coordinator will assist studio faculty as well as the Directors of Bands, Orchestras, and Jazz Studies in recruitment support of their respective areas.

Other assignments as agreed upon by the faculty member and the Director of the School of Music.
