Job Summary

Performs a variety of bookkeeping activities including, but not limited to, preparing deposits and posting payments for scholarships and other transactions, payments of invoices, assists with preparing a variety of accounting and financial reports, and assists department with accounting related questions.

Responsibilities

1.Reviews, deposits, and posts payments, scholarships and other transactions to accounting systems.

2.Prepares check requests and campus orders.

3.Ensures transactions are posted correctly to accounts and reviews transactions for accuracy and required back-up documentation.

4.Responds to a variety of accounting-related questions, such as inquiries from vendors on invoice status and from students on financial aid status.

5. Responds to a variety of scholarship related questions by various communication methods.

5.Assists department staff with questions on payment requests and purchasing documents.

6.Assists with preparation of various accounting and financial reports.

7. Communicates with campus community and donors about scholarship related concerns.

8. Assists with record retention management of scholarship related documents.

Minimum Qualifications

Four years of bookkeeping or accounting experience, and an understanding of basic accounting principles, mathematical and spreadsheet skills; and demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills required. Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field is preferred.
