New Position to Begin July 1, 2018
The University of Utah Film & Media Arts Department invites applications and nominations for a tenure-track position at the rank of assistant professor with a specialization in Media Arts Production, to begin July 2018.
The successful candidate’s creative work and teaching will address media production across a variety of platforms and modes of storytelling. These may include, but are not limited to, animation; games; virtual reality; or interactive, mobile, social, or trans- media. The successful candidate will play a role in revising and developing curriculum that addresses multiple platforms and approaches to storytelling. Applicants should have a terminal degree and/or a significant record of achievement in their field, a body of creative work and experience teaching at the college level. We especially welcome applicants who teach critical concepts in their production courses.

The Department of Film & Media Arts has over 600 undergraduate students across film production, animation, and game design emphases and 19 graduate students. It is ranked in the top fourteen film departments in the western region by (http://filmcolleges.com) and the top 30 in the nation by (http://college.usatoday.com/tag/college-factual/). It is the largest academic unit in a College of Fine Arts that also includes a School of Dance, a School of Music, a Department of Art & Art History, and a Department of Theatre. The Film & Media Arts faculty produce creative work, research and teach in animation, critical film and media studies, film production; narrative, documentary, experimental, and games, gender and sexuality studies, history and criticism, independent film, international cinema, screenwriting, sound production, and theory.
