Job Summary

This position will be working with Pediatric Orthopedic Department, including office locations at Primary Children’s Hospital, Riverton Hospital, Layton Hospital, including future clinic locations. Will be responsible for assisting in clinics/chart prep/clinic note scibe/triage patient status and needs/coordinating patients from Utah as well as out of state for clinic visits and procedures, including preauthorization as needed. Participates in Fracture Clinics and other clinics and duties as assigned.


Prescribes routing and corrective exercises to strengthen muscles and improve physical fitness of athletes. Recommends special diets to build-up health and reduce overweight conditions to enhance athletes participation in sport activities. Treats athletes to relieve soreness, sprains and bruises, and assist them in overcoming minor injuries. Renders first aid, e.g. cleaning and bandaging wounds, applying hot and cold compresses to promote healing, calls for medical care for seriously injured athletes and assists, when needed, in aiding the injured. Tapes athletes as a preventive measure against potential injuries and maintains complete records of all injuries, recommendations, medications, and treatments given; and periodically provides file information to the team physician for further review. Obtains athlete lists from head coaches and ensures each student athlete receives an annual physical examination.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a related area, or equivalency; one year of experience as an athletic trainer; and demonstrated effective communication and human relation skills. National Athletic Trainers Association (N.A.T.A.) certification preferred.
